I7 CANZ BE ST0RIE TIEM NAOW PLZ!?!??!!? :3

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 19, 2009, 12:07 AM

COPYPASTA AHOY!

Ladies and gentlemen, i beg need of (hopefully all of you) for what could potentially take a second, but will more than likely take anywhere from an hour to several weeks (depending on the severity of your ADD, you poor souls). Some of you have heard of TVTropes and it's bastard real life equilavent, crack (also coffee, the game, super smash brothers, halo, wow, and root beer). Many of you will not have, and if your schooling requires any higher than fifteen credit hours... You may yet FML.

But enough useless extrapolation! Embedded within the confines of tvtropes is a certain list of nearly every kind of "hero" known to literary and cliched soap opera man, found here: [link]

What I would ask for you to do (when time allows it, of course, and under the understanding that I cannot be held liable for any sort of addiction and/or corruption of your mind as a result) is to go through that list, pick out the trope that best represents how you really think and act in the real world, and copypasta it onto here. (private messages from those that are thus embarassed about which they fall under are also accepted).

Importantly, however, is that you choose a trope that you honestly believe represents YOU the most/best, not what you wish you WERE. While it is understandable that many of these tropes can represent you at the same time, or different "aspects" of your character, it is imperative that you try to choose ONE (although I will accept more than one if you can justify it well enough, and as long as they are not polar opposites). As for why it is imperative that the trope(s) represent what, or who you are, the stories involved are about none other than YOURSELVES:

Some of you may recall that roughly two or three years ago I began a similar project, with the intent of taking ourselves and placing them in an environment where the laws of science, reason, and a great deal of sense were incredibly relaxed in comparison to this world, where our largest, most identifiable traits and in some cases, desires were amplified and made real; with explosive results. That story... Is on hold, pending an injection of sense, a stable plotline, and a background for each of the thirty some characters based on real people I have to write about. It can't simply be "The three Government stooges" for instance, or "Game programmer for valve becomes hunter of the fantastical after a chance meeting with a graphic designer lycanthrope". That's only five people, I still have twenty five + more to create believable origin stories for.

However, this list will make that job a hell of a lot easier. I suppose my greatest problem is that I'm writing about characters based on what I know about all of you. As a bona fide hoverboard riding self taught American ninja told me, this is where I would invoke artistic license. But a writer must write based upon what he knows, and if what I write isn't you, then it was never you to begin with.

Interestingly enough, I didn't get the idea for this note from the realization that the "EPIC" is indefinitely on hold, but from ideas for writing a different story altogether. Although this one has had even less development than the aforementioned epic of whatever, it will be along the lines of a typical action/adventure RPG, for which we will require many, many NPC's, party members, distressed or not so distressed maidens, and all kinds of vile villainy.

Speaking of which...

I know some of you may prefer to be the antagonizer, rather than the antagonized. Please, go ahead and choose the one you feel most suited to, but realize that depending on what kind of dark, dank, archaic, mindfuck of a villain you become/are, your eventual death/defeat can either be as amusing as being Anime-kicked into a tiny star on the horizon, or something to the affect of being rated NC-17 if ever represented graphically.

Though i do wonder, if this ever gets off the ground, If any of our house artists would like to give it a shot...

Ah well. It's morning, and I created this entire note using the lovely iPhone, since we only have one working computer in the house and mom has discovered the sheer brain parasite that is farm...bookvilleface. Meh.

-Mark

Example trope/real life character comparison: myself, and the "Knight in Sour Armor".

Also: Yes, doing all of this optional. It's not like I have a metaphorical axe over your head or anything. But it would help the story writing process greatly, and you may just learn something about yourself while going through the countless tropes.

And: Tropes =/= Cliches. They are closer to themes.

AND ONE MOAAAAR thing! If you would like to help write the story, feel free to join up. This is a community project, and not to be taken... *too* seriously.
